Approach to Therapy

I believe that in order for therapy to be effective, it needs to be authentic. That means it can include laughter, anger, sadness, joy, creativity, and whatever else you want to bring. When you feel comfortable bringing your authentic self to the therapy space, that is when you start to see growth and change.

All humans have inherent strengths and our work is to build on those strengths to help you move in the direction you want to go. I aim to create a space where you feel safe, respected, and empowered to explore what matters most to you. This can include values and identity exploration, processing of the past, or planning for the future. Rather than pushing you in a specific direction, I walk beside you—helping you discover your own path forward.

Specialties

I integrate a variety of evidence-based practices, including Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Solution-Focused Therapy.

Teens & Young Adults

I have experience working with individuals across the lifespan, but I specialize in working with teens (13+) and young adults. This stage of life is often filled with uncertainty, change, and opportunities for growth and self-discovery.

I support young people in navigating:

  • Identity development and self-exploration

  • School-related stress and academic pressure

  • Social skills and peer relationships

  • Family communication and conflict

  • Building healthy, meaningful relationships

Complex Trauma

We often hear about “capital T” trauma—single, major events that have a lasting impact. What is less often discussed is complex trauma, which develops over time through repeated, prolonged, and interpersonal traumatic experiences.

These experiences can shape how we see ourselves, others, and the world. They can also impact our brain development and nervous system, leaving us feeling stuck in survival mode—even when we are no longer in danger.

In our work together, I focus on helping you:

  • Feel more grounded and present

  • Reconnect with your body and emotions

  • Build a sense of safety within yourself and your environment

  • Gently process past experiences at your own pace

Anxiety

Anxiety can show up in many ways—racing thoughts, constant worry, difficulty relaxing, or feeling on edge.

Together, we can work to:

  • Better understand your anxiety and thought patterns

  • Develop tools to manage overwhelming thoughts and feelings

  • Build a greater sense of calm, balance, and control

  • Strengthen your ability to respond rather than react

Stress & Burnout

In today’s world, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed—pulled in many directions, constantly managing responsibilities, and struggling to find time to rest. I love working with other therapists or anyone looking to examine the balance between their personal and professional lives.

I support individuals experiencing burnout in:

  • Managing chronic stress and emotional exhaustion

  • Setting boundaries and protecting your energy

  • Reconnecting with your values and sense of purpose

  • Creating more sustainable ways of living and working

General Support

In addition to my specialty areas, I also support clients with a range of concerns, including:

  • Depression and low mood

  • Life transitions and adjustment

  • Emotional regulation

  • Self-esteem and identity

  • Relationship challenges

No matter what brings you to therapy, we will work together at a pace that feels right for you—focusing on your strengths and what matters most in your life.
