Therapy with Children and Teens

Supporting Your Child Through Life's Challenges

Children

Children don't always have the words to explain what they're feeling or what they're experiencing. Sometimes their emotions show up through changes in behavior, difficulty managing frustration, withdrawal, or challenges at home and school.

Therapy provides children with a safe and supportive space to explore their feelings, build emotional awareness, and develop skills to navigate difficult experiences. Through play, conversation, and creative approaches, we can work together to help your child better understand themselves and feel more confident managing everyday challenges.

Areas of support may include:

- Understanding and expressing emotions

- Managing big feelings and frustration

- Developing coping skills for anxiety and stress

- Building confidence and self-esteem

- Navigating friendships and social relationships

- Adjusting to transitions such as divorce/separation, changing schools, or moving

- Processing difficult or overwhelming experiences such as grief or trauma

Therapy is most meaningful when children feel supported both in and outside of sessions. I believe in partnering with parents and caregivers throughout the therapeutic process. Together, we can build on your child's strengths, develop supportive strategies, and foster an environment that encourages emotional growth and connection.

Childhood and adolescence are filled with changes, new experiences, and growing expectations. As children develop, they encounter challenges that can sometimes feel overwhelming or difficult to navigate on their own. Changes at home, school-related stress, friendships, family relationships, and the pressures of growing up can all impact a child's emotional well-being.

As a parent or caregiver, it can be difficult to know how to best support your child when they are struggling. You may notice changes in their mood, behavior, relationships, or ability to manage everyday stress. Therapy can provide a supportive space for children and teens to better understand their emotions, develop healthy coping skills, and build confidence in navigating life's challenges.

Teens

Adolescence brings significant changes as teens begin exploring their identities, navigating relationships, and developing a greater sense of independence. Between academic expectations, social pressures, family dynamics, and the uncertainty of growing up, it can be difficult to balance everything while figuring out who you are and where you fit in.

Therapy offers teens a space of their own to talk openly, explore their experiences, and work through challenges without feeling judged or pressured to have everything figured out. Together, we can identify patterns, build practical coping strategies, and develop a stronger understanding of themselves and their needs.

Areas of support may include:

  • Anxiety, stress, and academic pressure

  • Depression and changes in mood

  • Identity development and self-exploration

  • Self-esteem and confidence

  • Friendships and peer relationships

  • Relationships and healthy boundaries

  • Family communication and conflict

  • Emotional regulation and decision-making

  • Substance use and other risky behaviors

  • Navigating transitions into adulthood

I strive to create an environment where teens feel comfortable showing up as themselves. Therapy is collaborative, and I believe teens deserve to have their voices, experiences, and perspectives heard and respected.

Virtual Therapy with Children and Teens

Currently, all my services are provided virtually. There is no specific age limit for virtual services and telehealth can be an effective form of therapy for young children, it really just depends on the child! I utilize a variety of interventions to engage children over telehealth that include play, art, talking, and more. If you are unsure if telehealth is right for your child, give me a call and I’d be happy to talk to through with you to help determine if its a good fit.
